Homematic IP & octopancy

Room comfort that follows your bookings.

Connect heating in your holiday accommodation, community spaces or meeting rooms with reservations in octopancy. Decide when to warm each space and when to lower its target temperature again.

Heating controls aligned with your reservations.

The connection

What you can use with octopancy.

  • Import heating rooms from Homematic IP and assign them to your locations and reservable units.
  • Schedule target temperatures with a suitable lead time before use and a setback afterwards.
  • Give guests time-limited control permissions and define their allowed temperature range.
  • View reported device states and the history of scheduled controls for each location.

Everyday possibilities

Three possible use cases.

Heat a holiday apartment before arrival

Arrival is booked for 4 pm. For example, schedule a target temperature of 21 °C two hours earlier and a setback after departure. During the stay, guests can adjust the temperature within your allowed range. Choose the lead time to suit the building and heating system.

Prepare a community hall for an evening

A hall is reserved from 6 to 10 pm. Link its heating control to the reservation and allow time to warm the space. The planned setback follows the event. The next booking has its own schedule.

Control meeting rooms separately

Two meeting rooms have different reservations. Assign each room its heating control and schedule target temperatures around its use. Preparing one room remains independent of bookings in the room next door.

Good to know

What you need.

You need an Access Point set up in the Homematic IP app, supported heating rooms and an authorised connection to octopancy. Create a separate connection for each Access Point. Configure rooms and devices in Homematic IP, then assign their heating controls to units in octopancy. Available functions depend on the controls provided by Homematic IP.

Getting started

In three steps.

  1. Set up the Access Point and heating rooms in the Homematic IP app.
  2. Generate a one-time key for cloud access in the app and use it to connect octopancy.
  3. Assign heating rooms, set target temperatures and offsets relative to reservations, and check execution results.

Your questions

What you want to know.

Does it work with underfloor heating?

Supported underfloor heating is controlled through heating rooms and room thermostats in Homematic IP. Its controller does not need to appear as an individual device in octopancy. What matters is the heating control provided for the room.

Do I need an Access Point or a Home Control Unit?

The integration described here uses cloud access through a Homematic IP Access Point. A Home Control Unit uses a different connection method and is not automatically covered.

Does heating respond to actual presence?

Scheduling follows reservation times. An early departure or late arrival is not detected automatically. Update the reservation and its linked schedule when use changes.

Is a particular temperature or energy saving guaranteed?

The control sets the scheduled target temperature. Heating speed and energy consumption depend on the building, heating system and outside temperature, among other factors.
